MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 6, Colorado 1

Published: Aug. 27, 2011 at 1:27 AM

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27 (UPI) — James Loney and Matt Kemp both homered during a six-run seventh inning Friday that boosted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-1 win over Colorado.

The Rockies had held a 1-0 lead since a Carlos Gonzalez homer in the first, but the Dodgers batted around in the seventh while scoring six times on four hits. Los Angeles won its fourth straight.

With Rockies starter Esmil Rogers (6-3) still on the mound to start the seventh, Andrew Ethier and Aaron Miles drew walks and a single by Rod Barajas loaded the bases.

The Rockies gave themselves a chance to get out of the inning when Jamey Carroll flew out to center and Dexter Fowler threw Ethier out at home to complete a double play.

Tony Gwynn was walked intentionally to load the bases, but Rogers cost himself with a balk that allowed the first run to score and Justin Sellers then singled in two more. Loney followed with a two-run homer and Kemp homered as well four pitches later for the sixth run of the inning.

Ted Lilly (8-13) survived seven innings to get the win. He gave up the first-inning homer to Gonzalez and only two other hits while striking out five.
