R&B singer Rihanna and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp have broken up after just under a year of dating, Us Weekly reported Tuesday.

“It happened over the last few weeks,” a source close to the “Rude Boy” singer told Us. “She basically was just over it.”

The source said Kemp couldn’t keep up with Rihanna’s extensive travel schedule and “wants something more normal.”

Kemp, 26, and Rihanna, 22, were first seen together in January and went public with their romance in the spring. “It was never as serious as it looked,” the source said. “It was always just [about] having fun.”

Before Kemp, Rihanna dated R&B singer Chris Brown, who assaulted her on Feb. 8, 2009, and pleaded guilty to felony assault. Brown recently completed a court-ordered domestic violence course and will remain on probation until 2014.
